Punjabi Culture Of Pakistan

Punjab has one of the oldest and richest cultures consisting province of the world. Its diligence uniqueness is evident can be shown in the Punjabi poetry, philosophy, education, artistry, music, cuisine, science, technology, military warfare, architecture, traditions, history and value. The concern and high spiritedness can be observed in the lifestyle of people of Punjab (Punjabis). It is hard to miss. While, the Punjabis are famous for their strong determination all over the world. Their culture presents a multi-hued heritage of ancient civilizations of Punjabi culture of Pakistan. Punjabi People

Punjabi people are very open hearted and loving. Punjabi has strong faiths on natural and supersitions powers like pir-faqeers, taweez, white magic, manat-ka-dhag, and black magic. People of Punjab have become somewhat rational due to increment in literacy. Punjab is also believe in cast system like Jats, Maliks, Mughals, Arains, Gujjars, Awans, Rajputs, Gakhars, Khokhars, Sheikhs, Aheers, Kambohs, Mirani, Qureshis, and Syeds. Although, the people of village are very decent and living peaceful life. They never take step back in the happiness/grieve of each other and give a great value of respect to their culture, norms and run their lives according to their set traditions.

Punjabi Weddings

Punjabi weddings are based on traditions and beginning of new relation. Weddings  are conducted with strong reflection of the Punjabi culture of Pakistan. People of Punjab followed by many pre-wedding customs and rituals  like dholki,mayun,ubtan etc. Punjabi weddings are full of enjoyment and energetic.The wedding functions full of music,colors, fancy-dresses, food and dancing. Punjabi weddings have many customs that have  followed since traditional times. In cities the weddings are celebrated generally lasts for 3days, Mehndi, Barat (Nikkah+Ruksati) and Walima.

Customs and Rituals

There are some customs and rituals that are followed in Punjab have no concept in Islam. Hence the Punjabi culture of Pakistan has adopted those traditions from Hindu culture. Punjabis celebrate birth of their child with lots of intense Grandfather or grandmother or s elder member from the family puts honey with their index finger in child’s mouth called Ghutii. The different Sweets and fruits are distributed among friends and relatives. People bring gifts for the child and mother. The Aqiqa ceremony is also held through slaughtered of goat or cow

Dance and Music

There are various folk music and dances which are getting popularity in Punjab. These are also done rest of the country which the Punjabi culture of Pakistan. One of basic is Bhangra which has also become extremely popular in the west. When Punjabi farmers used to perform to welcome the harvest season they are doing dance to express their happiness. Giddha and Sammi, Luddhi and Dhamal are some other popular dances of Punjab. Punjabi music has become popular in Bollywood too.

Sports

Punjabi people have keen interest in sports. Punjabi’s are crazy about of kabaddi, and wrestling, These are the having financial interest games. It can be played at national level not only in Punjab but also other parts of Pakistan. There are so many games being played in Punjab region include Gilli-Danda, Khoo-Khoo, Yassu-Panju, Pitho-Garam, Ludo, Chuppan-Chupai, Baraf-Panni, Kanchy. Some great level sports include cricket, boxing, horse-racing, hockey and football are played in Punjab.

Culture festival

There are various kinds of festivals which are celebrated as Punjabi culture of Pakistan. Punjabi people including some religious festivals such as Eid-Milad-Un-Nabi, Jumu’ah, Laylat-ul-Qadr etc are celebrated with faith. There are many Urcs are celebrated with devotional fairs. These are held at the shirnes of sufi saints in form of Melas and Nomaish .The Provincial capital Lahore of Punjab is widely popular for its entertaining events and activities. People of Lahore are famous all over the country for their celebrations particularly for Basant event in the spring season.

Cuisine

The Punjab can be cuisine with people of both categories vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Punjabi dishes is the liberal usage of ghee or butter and spices. Punjabis are fond of sweet-dishes like Kheer, sawaiyan, Zarda, Cake and different colorful sweets also. Most Punjabi food is exclusively eaten with either roti such as Mah Di Dal, Paratha, Samosy, Pakoray, Makai ki rotti and  Saron Da Saag there are different food like  Choley, Haleem, Baryani and other spicy dishes are famous in Cities of Punjab which shows the Punjabi culture of Pakistan. In summer season Punjabi people likes to drink lassi, doodh-soda, aloo bokharey ka sharbat and lemonade etc. 

Literature and Philosphy

Punjab is very rich with literature and philosophy point of view. There are many Sufis adds more in its literature. Punjabi poetry has it great value due to extremely deep meaning, decent and hopeful use of words. There are lots of collection of Punjabi poetry is being translated throughout the world in different languages. Some famous poets of Punjabi are Sultan Bahu, Mia Mohammad Baksh, Baba Farid, Shah Hussain, Anwar Masood etc. Waris Shah is one of the great person who did contribution in Punjabi literature for his best seminal work in Heer Ranjha, known as Shakespeare of Punjabi language. Bulleh Shah was a Punjabi Sufi poet, a humanist and a philosopher. Some other famous folk tales of Punjab include Sassi-Punnu, Sohni Mahiwal etc are passing through generations.

Language

Punjabi can be use as provincial language of Punjab. It is spoken as the first language  spoken and understood in areas of Punjab beyond the confines of Punjab. History shows that the Punjabi language is spoken as first language of Pakistan. Urdu language is commonly use in Punjab. Punjabi language is also called mother language of Punjab. Key Punjabi languages are used in Punjab are Pothowari, Saraiki, Hindko, Pahari, Majhi, Jhangvi and Shahpuri.
