In the history of United Kingdom flag we all know that flag of United Kingdom is known as union flag. But union flag is the current name of United Kingdom the old name was known as British flag or flag of Britain. It has the cross of England and cross of Scotland. In 1606 it first named as ‘Union jack’. It is first designed in the1801 and it has only appearance of England and Scotland. As we know United Kingdom is the union of England, Scotland and wales and you might get wondered that why the flag has only features of Scotland and England and why not Wales, so the answer is that wales was already seigniory of England.

Design of United Kingdom Flag:

The design of the United Kingdom flag was designed by the ‘King James’ in 1606. The color used in the flag are red, blue and white that are the union of England and Scotland flag. Before queen Elizabeth the design of flag was only a red cross with white background. In 1603 the flag has the cross of St. Andrew that has a white, diagonal cross (or X shape) on a blue background. But in 1606 king James the flag has a red cross border on a white background and X shaped cross with the blue color. But again in 1800 flag gone through another changes and has the cross of St. Patrick in order to add the Ireland. Anyways Britain flag, British flag, union flag and union jack are all the same terms for United Kingdom flag.

As we know the flag contains three colors that are red, white and blue.

White: white color represents purity, innocence and purity.
