Culture of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa

Khyber Pakhtunkhawa(kpk) is one of the famous province of Pakistan. Khyber Pakhtunkhawa is normally represented with Pashtun. The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa is known as Pashtuns or Pathans. The history and the origins of Pashtun(kpk) has been prolonged dispute conversation because could not be formed much consensus. There were many theories ranging from Pakhtuns having mixed origin like an Aryan, Jewish and Arab. Pathans are extremely obsessed and curious to know about their origin of their race. Some people believe that they might also be related to Khalid Bin Walid and as a result of which Pathans might also have belonged to Arabic origin. One of the famous Adolf Hitler’s that has a linked aryans to the Afghans(Peshawar). Khyber Pakhtunkhawa culture is based on Islam and Pashtunwali, which is an ancient way of life. Pashtun(kpk) People:

The people live in KPK are Sunni Muslims, but there are a small minority are Shi’a. Pashtunwali concept appears seem to derive from Muslim law in order to worship of one God, Allah. After separation of Pakistan and India, Pashtuns people lived in dominated areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The idea is still alive in the history of Pashtun nationalists. The people of KPK are very nice and open hearted. They are very hardworking.

Pashtun(kpk) Weddings:

Most of Pashtun(kpk) weddings depends on various traditions as well as KhyberPakhtun khawa culture. The groom wears white kameez with a plain black wasket and headwear can be taken as an option. The elder men of Pashtun family wore karakural hats in their weddings. The bride wore a red dress. In Afghanistan brides like to heard wear a green dress but not compulsory. Ultimately the dress traditionally worn by the bride varies from region to region.

Customs and Rituals:

The people of Pashtun(kpk)  kept a secret about the advent of child as far as possible. The birth of baby girl passes un-noticed rather than the birth of baby boy is a joyful event. The parents held different ceremony for baby boy like Sar kalai (hair cutting) and slaughter of animal like goat and sheep. After one year circumcision ceremony will be organize, all family member came to celebrate this event by offering some money to the baby boy. KPK people arrange marriage in form of Wadah. This rituals can be settle with the happiness of parents. Some other customs like Laman Shlawal, Neewaka and kwezhdan followed by the Pashtun people.

Dance and Music:

Pashto songs and music is the product of the cultural, traditional, and social influences of the Pashtun people. Pashto music is reflection of the Pashtun people history and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa culture. The classical music use in KPK has the historical movements that affected various part of the subcontinent. Hence there is not concept of the slightest trace of classical music before the end of the eighteenth century. The people of KPK have rich treasure of folk music traditionally. The songs are created specifically dance songs. TheCharbeeta, Neemkai & Lobha, Shaan & Saakhmani, badla and Ghazal & Rubaee.


Sports

Khyber Pakhtunkhawa is populated for different folk games are played. These games vary in different areas and playing according to the climatic conditions. According to the Khyber pakhtunkhawa culture the outdoor games are played by boys while indoor games are those of the girls. The games may include Kabaddi, Gulli Danda, Larroo or Pat Patoney, Kowat Kannarry, Kissa Kali Kali, Angay, Gangar, Cheendro. Eishtapa, Teeki, Karkhai, Joora and Katchna Gotey.

Culture festival:

There are many Khyber Pakhtunkhawa culture festivals are Gham khadi,Wada Koidana, Topak tamacha,hujra,kat bistara along with the arrival of Sparlay or Spring, known as Nava Wroz (New Day), is also celebrated with the people of Pashtun. It is most ancient annual Pashtun event which celebrates both the beginning of spring and the New Year.

Cuisine

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is one of the administrative province of Pakistan. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the third-largest province of Pakistan by the size of both population and economy, but samller geographically. Some of the best desi food is found in KPK. KPK is popular for Pashtun style cuisine. Pashtun cuisine is hugely based on a plethora of meat dishes that include lamb, beef, chicken, and fresh fish as well as rice and some different vegetables. Accompanying these staples and like to use dairy products (yogurt, cheeses), various nuts, as well as fresh and dried fruits.

Language

Pashto is the main language in the province, except for a small part of the overall population is urban. The province’s major cities include Peshawar, Mardan, Mingaora, Kohat, and Abbottabad use Pashto language. Whereas other languages include Kashmiri, Shina, Romani, Burushaski, Wakhi, Balti, Balochi, Brahui, Sindhi, and English can also be used. Only Urdu and English are found as written from languages in this province.
